Gosh Chris, you are a bit defensive about this flyover! One of the unfortunate effects of the new roundabout is that when holiday traffic is heavy and eastbound traffic tails back on the southern (A47) bypass, drivers take the right hand lane, overtake the queue, leave the A47 by the new roundabout and go right round the Hardwick roundabout to take the Hunstanton road, thus increasing traffic and congestion on the Hardwick roundabout rather than decreasing it. I think the purpose of a flyover should be to seperate through traffic from local traffic. If at some future point West Winch were bypassed to the east (as once discussed) and a new junction of the A47 and A10 created in between the Hardwick and Fair Green, then the flyover could carry rather more through traffic and slip roads would be even more sensible.
I resent your dismissal of French flyovers. In my experience their road designs are better than British ones.
